Help Us Build a Weekend of Service in Agua Prieta
April 9–11, 2027 · Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico
In April 2027, SMPLife Foundation plans to return to Agua Prieta for a hands-on weekend of service with Rancho Feliz. We’ll bring together a team of friends and family ready to work, and SMPLife will provide the majority of the funding. But the amount we raise will determine just how much good we can accomplish during the weekend—and we’re inviting our community to help us make it count.
Our first goal: build a home
At the center of the weekend is the opportunity to build a Highly-Johansen House: a safe, insulated home for a family who otherwise may not have secure housing. Rancho Feliz estimates a $25,000 project package for the home and a team of 10–12 volunteers. That includes building materials, accommodations, meals, transportation within Mexico, housekeeping and trip activities.
In just one weekend, volunteers can help turn an empty foundation into a finished home—and give a family greater safety, stability and hope.
With additional support, we can do even more
Depending on fundraising and the community’s most pressing needs, we hope to expand the weekend to include:
A community food distribution
A piñata celebration with children in the barrio
Support for the local dog shelter
Service at the soup kitchen
A visit to and support for the orphanage
Clothing, household-supply or other needed deliveries
The more support we receive, the more of these projects we can fund.

SMPLife is committed to making the lead contribution and organizing the volunteer team. We’re asking friends, family and supporters to help us close the remaining gap and expand the reach of the weekend.
